About
Les Entreprises Bélisle, a family-run business, got its start in a residential garage in Sainte-Véronique. It was here that Mr. Edouard Bélisle, a famous trapper, invented the first prototype of the Bélisle trap, commonly known as the "Bélisle Lace Trap". For several years, this garage was the company's first manufacturing plant.
The company then moved to Labelle, with three family members on board: Mr. Edouard Bélisle, his son Mr. Benoit Bélisle and Mrs. Claudette Letarte, Edouard's spouse. Some time after the plant was set up in Labelle, on June 2, 1998, the company was incorporated and became "Les Entreprises Bélisle".
In 2007, the modern factory and production line we know today was built in Blainville, where it has been located for 17 years. The manufacture of Bélisle traps is a passion that has been handed down from father to son; from Edouard senior to Benoit, President for 26 years, to his brother Christian, the brilliant and indispensable industrial designer and creator still with the company, and to his brother Denis, for many years in charge of quality control.
In July 2023, Les Entreprises Bélisle was transformed from a family business into a company born of a strategic partnership between Véronick Aubé, a long-time Bélisle accountant, and Marc Dussault of Mactrap, a well-known and long-established player in the Quebec trapping industry. Véronick is in charge of administration and production at the plant, while Marc Dussault is in charge of sales and development.
So it's with great enthusiasm that we invite you to continue the adventure with us, and together, let's help write and perpetuate the long history of trapping in Canada.
